The boys have Halloween Parties today, and I USUALLY ALWAYS make cupcakes for their school events, but this year, sugary treats have been excluded from their classrooms and if brought, would have been given to the kiddos to eat after their day at school and after asking a parent. Let's just avoid temptation... shall we? So I decided to make a quick and easy, low cost treat for them (that's the best kind ammirite?) Check out these Easy Goldfish Jack O' Lantern Snack Bags!

Goldfish Jack O' Lantern Snack Bags

To make these little cuties, you're going to need the following:

1. Rounded Cellophane Treat Baggies (I got mine in the cake decorating aisle at Michael's)

2. Sharpies

3. Big Goldfish Carton (or you could use Cheeseballs)

4. Green Ribbon

You'll also need scissors to cut the ribbon and a 1/3 measuring cup.

Here's a close up of the Rounded Treat Bags that I got at Michael's because when I was going to do this project, I had no idea what I was looking for lol.

First, you're going to want to set as many treat bags as you need aside. They are quite the slippery little things, so - don't say I didn't warn you. They can easily fall and go everywhere!! I needed 18 for this project. Then, you grab your Sharpie and start drawing little Jack O' Lantern faces. They really don't need to be fancy at all - you know the baggie is going to be thrown away - so don't spend a ton of time on it. And you don't need to go all Leonardo Da Vinci. I personally made each face a bit different, but you can totally make the same little face over and over again.

I started by outlining the smile, about 3/4"-1" up from the bottom of the baggie, and kept the faces pretty small. Then, I filled everything in. Once they were all done, I let them dry for about 5 minutes to make sure all of the Sharpie ink was completely dry.

Once they were all dry, I began filling each of them with 2 LIGHT 1/3 Cup scoops (So 2/3 Cup total). And then I used the twisty ties that were included with the treat bags to close them up.

Next, I took my green ribbon - and I was totally -THIS CLOSE- to buying a cute rustic $3.99 ribbon, but had to talk myself down from being "EXTRA" (as they might say) and get the .50 ribbon - which was totally cool - it's still super fab... And I cut them into equal lengths. I highly suggest testing your first cut to make sure you can tie that length into a bow. Mine were approximately 6-7" long. Again, I cut out 18 equal lengths and set aside.

Then, I tied the green ribbon over the twisty tie closure. It just adds a very adorable little element and brings a bit more of those lovable Halloween colors into play.

And voila! You're done with these SUPER simple and extra fun, healthier than candy (or cupcakes) treat baggies! I hope you and your kiddos enjoy! I know mine are!
